Volunteering

Volunteering can be very rewarding. If you live in Edinburgh or the surrounding area why not consider becoming a Stepfamily Scotland Helpline volunteer?

Potential volunteers need to be able to listen and to have empathy. Specific qualifications and stepfamily experience are not necessary, although your own experiences of being a member of a stepfamily may be what encourages you to volunteer.

Although volunteering is unpaid, some expenses will be reimbursed.

What our Volunteers say :
"Stepfamily Scotland offer terrific support to me as a volunteer and I hope that I help callers feel supported through their bad times too."
"Being a volunteer is all about listening to callers and caring. The reward is knowing that just by listening and responding empathetically I can help make a difference to someone's life."
"I enjoy being part of a group, learning about stepfamily issues and how they affect people's lives, and having the chance to help people understand their problems."
"I like to be part of a team of like-minded people who are willing to give some of their time to listen to people who may often be distressed."
